What is hot stone massage?
It combines traditional massage with warm basalt stones. The stones are heated to a safe, comfortable temperature, then placed on key areas or used as an extension of the therapist's hands. The heat helps muscles relax more quickly, so tight areas can be reached without excessive pressure.
Who it's for
- Muscle tension, if you prefer gentler pressure
- Stress or anxiety
- Stiffness or poor circulation
- Anyone who wants deep relaxation without intense pressure
What to expect
You start with a short chat about your preferences, problem areas and comfort with heat. Then expect warm stones on targeted areas, gentle to moderate pressure and a calm, quiet room. The heat should feel soothing, and we adjust as needed.
Hot stone or deep tissue?
Both relieve tight muscles. They just get there differently.
Hot stone
- Uses heat to relax muscles
- Gentle tension release
- Good for stress and general tightness
Deep tissue
- Uses focused, firm pressure
- Targets deeper muscle layers
- Good for ongoing muscle issues
Questions
Is hot stone massage safe?
It’s safe for most clients when performed by a licensed professional. If you have circulatory issues, sensitivity to heat, or are pregnant, please tell us before your session so we can adjust or recommend alternatives.
How often should I get one?
It depends on your stress level and goals. Once a month is a common choice for relaxation, or every 2 to 4 weeks for ongoing tension or stiffness.
What do I need ready?
Just a comfortable space. We bring the table, linens, heated stones and supplies.
